Question: Which day of the week do classes begin?
Answer: You can start your Spanish course on any day of the week that best suits you.

Q: Do you recommend group classes or private classes; what are the benefits of group/private classes?
A: Both alternatives have there own advantages. It really depends on what you as a student are looking to get out of your time at our school. Individual classes are recommended to those who require personal dedication to their learning progress or those that have more restricted schedules. One-on-one classes are more expensive; however, the learning curve is steeper and, depending on the student’s application, fluency can be attained in a much shorter period of time.
Group classes are more economical as your teacher's time will be divided between you and the rest of your group. However, group classes also have their own advantages. You will be able to develop much stronger group skills, and have more opportunity to practice Spanish with your peers both in and out of the classroom.

Q: How big are the group classes?
A: The maximum number of students in a group class is 7.
The average is usually between 3-4.

Q: Will there be a group class at my level when I arrive in Buenos Aires?
A: We guarantee that there will be a class at your level when you join the school. If no other students have signed up before your starting date, your classes will still commence at the same rate.

Q: Do I have to pay in Argentine pesos?
A: We accept the following forms of cash payment: euros, dollars and Argentine pesos (AMEX travellers’ cheques are also accepted).

Q: When can I take private classes?
A: Private classes may be arranged any time of the day between 8:00am and 8:00pm, Monday through Friday (special requests for weekend classes will be taken into consideration).

Q: Would you recommend a homestay?
A: This is a very personal decision. Sharing a house with a local family provides an invaluable opportunity to immerse yourself in the Argentine lifestyle, culture and of course the Spanish language. With a homestay, you will have your own key and with it the freedom to come and go as you please, however we ask you to treat your host family with the same courtesy and respect that they in turn give to you.

Q: Do I have to pay for my courses in advance prior to leaving my home country?
A: No, our school does not require advanced payments. Tuition fees may be settled upon arrival. We ask our students to pay on a weekly basis, on the first day of each week of scheduled classes.

Q: Can the school assist me in preparing trips around Argentina?
A: Yes we can! We have a strong relationship with ‘Malen Viajes’, an excellent travel agency located very close to the school.

Q: Are there any extracurricular activities organised through the school?
A: Yes, we organise weekly outings to concerts, sporting events, museums, Tango classes etc. We feel it is important to give our students an opportunity to experience the highlights of Buenos Aires and to practise Spanish outside the classroom

Q: Do I get a refund if I cancel my classes?
A: The tuition fees are paid on a weekly basis at the start of each week and are non-refundable.

Q: What is the average age of students?
A: Many of our students tend to be in their mid-twenties or their early thirties, however not all! We welcome students of all ages to our school. It’s never too late to learn!

Q: Where do most of your students come from?
A: All over the world! Over 50% over our students come from Europe, for example Germany, UK, Switzerland and Holland. We also have students from the USA and Canada, and a smaller number of students from Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Q: What do I need to bring to the class?
A: All you need to bring is a notebook and a pen. Course materials are provided by the school. A bilingual pocket dictionary may be helpful.

Q: Do I need to take an Exam before starting class?
A: Yes. If you have any previous knowledge of Spanish, we will ask you to take a comprehensive level test upon arrival. It is up to us to find the best material and group class to suit your language needs. This test is a little more detailed than the preliminary test provided on our website.

Q: How does the Spanish language in Argentina differ from the rest of South America; will I be understood if I go to Spain?
A: The Spanish language has matured and evolved both in Spain and in all of its former colonies. The pronunciation of Argentine Spanish is somewhat different from the rest of Latin America and Spain. There are also some grammatical and vocabulary differences; however, having a good command of Argentine Spanish will enable you to converse well in any Spanish speaking country.

Q: What qualifications do your teachers have?
A: All of our teachers are university graduates and have obtained a Spanish teaching diploma awarded by the University of Buenos Aires.

Q: How long will it take me to reach fluency?
A: How long is a piece of string? This will depend on the student’s dedication and application to his/her studies. We can guarantee, that after a few weeks of intense classes, you will have a strong hold of the basics; however, reaching fluency requires a continuation of classes. Learning a language takes time and much practice, and immersing yourself in Spanish is the best way to master it!

Q: Will I get a certificate when I have completed my studies?
A: Yes. We will give you a certificate stating the dates of your course and the level you attained.

Q: How do I register?
A: It’s all very simple. Just fill in and submit the course application form on our website. We will then get back to you within the next 48 hours to confirm your registration.

Q: Does your school arrange airport pick-up?
A: Yes. We can have a driver waiting for you when you land in Buenos Aires. This service costs 35 US dollars. If you wish to take advantage of this service, you’ll need to leave your flight details with the school at least 3 days prior to your arrival.

Q: Is Buenos Aires a safe city?
A: Buenos Aires is a very cosmopolitan city. The same dangers exist here as in London, New York and other top capitals in the world. In most areas of central Buenos Aires you will feel safe even after dark; however, you must always be vigilant and use your common sense.
